The Artist Spotlight is your inside look into the influences, collaborations and prompts that drive the NightCafe community.

We catch up with some of our most original creators to find what inspires them, who their favorite creators are, and how they use image generator algorithms as part of their work.

NC: WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK?

My mood often affects what I decide to create.

Whether it's to make something funny and strange to help calm my nerves or a dreamy landscape to stay in a contemplative space.

Also having a love for comic book art, illustrations for sci-fi and horror novels, as well as Radiohead album art; and then trying to mash them up with other art styles and mediums is always fun for me. 

NC: MOST UNDERRATED ARTIST ON NIGHTCAFE?

/u/AlyssarachAI has always been a favorite.

I love landscapes of all kinds and she's got a style that I find unique to Nightcafe. 

NC: PROMPT THAT MOST SURPRISED YOU?

I'd have to say:

"Modern living room, beautiful interior, painting of an Erupting volcano in an alien landscape on the wall".

Because it managed to give me a work of art on the wall that was different from the room it created.

NC: ANY TIPS FOR PROMPT WRITING?

This past summer I took my family to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. 

Besides being a great experience, I came away with a list of artists that I probably wouldn't have with a simple internet search.

With that, I was able to apply those artists, their styles, and techniques to my prompts.

So go to your local museums - you may get some inspiration.

NC: WHAT LED YOU TO USING NIGHTCAFE?

I first found NightCafe from an article online. After making two very poor creations I decided it was not for me.

Fast-forward to April 2022, I was searching for something else entirely and stumbled back onto NightCafe.

After playing around with presets and other users' open prompts, I started to figure it out.

It's become a great source of joy to make weird beautiful things. I hope that the album that a friend and I have been recording will have a NightCafe creation as the cover art.
