The Artist Spotlight is your inside look into the influences, collaborations and prompts that drive the NightCafe community.

We catch up with some of our most original creators to find what inspires them, who their favorite creators are, and how they use image generator algorithms as part of their work.

NC: WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK?

I have been an artist all my life (at least as long as I can remember) and have always loved all forms of art. So I am inspired by sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, fashion, etc - and now AI art.

I generally steer towards the unusual, the surreal, quirky things that trigger creative ideas, often with humor a key driver - those things can be other art or the many interesting things, big and small,  in the world around me. 

NC: MOST UNDERRATED ARTIST ON NIGHTCAFE?

It is hard to single out any one artist as there are so many clever creative people using NightCafe.

Those that I follow and rate include @dbfish for his creative and varied, prompts, @DelaCabra and @Hag for art that rocks my boat, and @ComradeDigger for his quirky, clever creations (apologies to the many great NC AI artists I have not mentioned)

NC: PROMPT THAT MOST SURPRISED YOU?

That's a hard one as I have been creating on NightCafe for a long time now, but one recent one that has given great results is "Goodness gracious, great balls of fire" at the start of my prompts, which has given great results when combined with various LoRa. 

NC: ANY TIPS FOR PROMPT WRITING?

What I have learned is that prompts don't need to be long and complicated to create fantastic images - especially now that the algorithms themselves have evolved.

Basically trust the ability of the algorithms to do a lot of the drudgery work for you. Over time I have cut my prompt lengths right back to the important keywords.

Also, order is important. Put priority on the first few words and don't rely too heavily on the latter. 

NC: WHAT LED YOU TO USING NIGHTCAFE?

I was an early adopter of NightCafe when I became aware of some amazing images that had been created by AI.

I did a quick search and found NightCafe, and I haven't looked back.

The results have amazed me on a daily basis and continue to do so.
