Artist Spotlight | BeeljoTheDude

The Artist Spotlight is your inside look into the influences, collaborations and prompts that drive the NightCafe community.

We catch up with some of our most original creators to find what inspires them, who their favorite creators are, and how they use image generator algorithms as part of their work.

NC: WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK?

I think ‘motivates’ is a better word than ‘inspires’.

I'm just a mad scientist, haphazardly mixing things together, and if the whole thing blows up in my face, I'll just try again with a new batch.

I'm more interested in learning why a prompt produced the results it did than I am in trying to get a specific result.

NC: MOST UNDERRATED ARTIST ON NIGHTCAFE?

That would be hard to say because I tend to focus on the art itself rather than artists or genres.

Anyone who does open prompts is a hero in my book. I know that doesn't really address the question, but it's the closest I can come.

NC: PROMPT THAT MOST SURPRISED YOU?

I just ran one of my regular prompts as a negative prompt just to see what would happen.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but what I got was nothing like what the prompt was.

Especially considering I've run stuff like “volumetric baked bean dresses”, “Kinetic Pointillism Braille Linoleum landscapes", or "Modular Origami Prismatic Neon Rainbow Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Concentric Art Deco Surreal Abstract Cubism Stipple Filigree Dress And Hair”

Not to mention once using H. R. Giger as a fashion designer. Give me five minutes and I'll probably find another prompt that surprises me.

NC: ANY TIPS FOR PROMPT WRITING?

Experiment. Whether it's different artists and styles (WikiArts is a great source), aesthetics and movie/tv show/animation titles (Aesthetics Wiki), or elements.

Experiment with word order, seeds, prompt weights, sampling methods, and clip guidance.

Experiment with random letters, words, symbols, and emojis. Pick a favorite song — as long as it's NOT Baby Shark — and use the lyrics.

NC: WHAT LED YOU TO USING NIGHTCAFE?

To be honest, I was just looking for art to use with a wallpaper changer.

At first, I was using the ‘color by number’ apps. However, AI art gave me not only more control over what I produced but an incentive to learn more about art itself.

From there, I pretty much tried every AI art app/website to figure out which one(s) were worth keeping. NightCafe was clearly among them.
