The Artist Spotlight is your inside look into the influences, collaborations and prompts that drive the NightCafe community.

We catch up with some of our most original creators to find what inspires them, who their favorite creators are, and how they use image generator algorithms as part of their work.

NC: WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK?

Curiosity. The possibilities of the algorithms on NightCafe are, for all practical purposes, endless.

Almost all of my creations start with the question "I wonder what will happen if...", and every time I press the "CREATE" button I feel the same wonder and excitement as a child opening a gift on a special holiday or birthday.

NightCafe has been a sensational way for me to learn more about artists, art styles, movements, media, and much more in an immersive, interactive, and immensely rewarding format.

Of course, the community at NightCafe also greatly influences and inspires my work. There are so many talented artists who are generous with their time and experience on NightCafe, it is truly amazing.

NC: MOST UNDERRATED ARTIST ON NIGHTCAFE?

This is an impossible question to answer because almost everyday I come across an artist on NightCafe that is doing incredible things but doesn't have a high profile or many likes on their works.

So I will pivot a little and thank those artists who share their time and experience with others, whether it is through keeping their prompts open, creating tutorials, being a resource in the chatrooms, creating lists and helpful tips, collaborating, or sharing their wisdom in other ways.

These are the heroes of NightCafe.

NC: PROMPT THAT MOST SURPRISED YOU?

I don't have a specific prompt for this question. Just a few observations.

The results you can get with SDXL using just a few words continue to astonish me. And that's not even using artist modifiers. On the other hand, using multiple prompts with SDXL may not be recommended at this time, but can lead to some unexpected but wonderful results too.

Finally, and a bit more specifically, using Jan Brueghel the Elder as an artist modifier in space-themed compositions (both SD and SDXL) has resulted in some really mind-boggling results (to me at least).

NC: ANY TIPS FOR PROMPT WRITING?

If you are new to writing prompts, take full advantage of the free options for generating images and explore.

Take a simple subject, say "tree of life" and create an image. Then keep the seed number the same and experiment with different modifiers, adding one at a time.

It is free and a great way to get an idea of what different modifiers and combinations of modifiers do to an image.

Another great way to learn and get inspiration is to check the settings of other people's creations to see if they have kept their prompts open.

Finally, some general advice is to mix things up from time to time, whether it is in how you write your prompts, the styles you use, or the themes and subjects you explore.

NC: WHAT LED YOU TO USING NIGHTCAFE?

I read an article on AI-assisted art and wanted to learn more, so I did a little research, found NightCafe, signed up, and immediately fell in love.
