Why NightCafe Daily Challenges now allow PRO models every day

If you’ve spent time in NightCafe’s Daily Challenges, you’ve probably had this happen before.

You get a great idea for a theme…

Then realize you have to wait for the “right” day to actually create it the way you want.

That part is gone now.

Going forward, NightCafe Daily Challenges will allow PRO models and tools, every day of the week.

What changed

Previously, Daily Challenges rotated between:

  • Days where PRO models were allowed

  • Days where only non-PRO tools could be used

That structure is no longer in place.

From May 9th:

  • Every challenge allows both PRO and non-PRO tools

  • All existing tools remain available

  • Nothing has been taken away, only restrictions removed

You can approach every theme the same way: create it how you want to create it.

Why this change was made

This comes down to how people actually use NightCafe.

Over time, Daily Challenges started to feel less like creative prompts and more like something to optimize around:

  • Waiting for certain days

  • Adjusting ideas based on tool limits

  • Thinking about credits before creativity

That wasn’t the original intention.

The goal has always been:

  • Try something new

  • Push your style

  • Share your work

  • Get feedback from the community

So this change shifts things back in that direction.

Daily Challenges are meant to help you create your best work – not work around technical constraints.

There’s also a simple practical side to it.

People who use more advanced tools want to use them consistently.
People who are newer want the freedom to experiment when inspiration hits.

Opening everything up supports both.

What even caused this change

This change didn’t come out of nowhere. We’ve been listening closely to feedback from our recent community survey, along with ongoing conversations across the site.

A consistent theme we saw was that many creators felt limited by when they could fully use the tools available to them in Daily Challenges. At the same time, we know accessibility and fairness are important to a large part of the community.

Opening Daily Challenges to all models is intended to give everyone more flexibility in how they create while keeping challenges focused on creativity, experimentation, and community feedback.

What this means for your workflow

The biggest difference is how simple things feel now.

You no longer need to:

  • Wait for specific days to use certain tools

  • Skip themes because of restrictions

  • Rework ideas to fit limitations

Now it’s just:

  • See a theme

  • Build your idea

  • Submit your best version

That’s it!

A small moment: saying goodbye to DALL·E 3

This shift also lines up with something the community will recognize.

DALL·E 3, one of the most used PRO models, is being retired May 12th, 2026.

To mark that, one of the first challenges in this new PRO-allowed format is a goodbye-themed Daily Challenge–a chance to create something with it one last time (on a historically non-PRO day, a Saturday).

It’s a simple transition point, but a meaningful one.

Where this is heading

This isn’t about changing what Daily Challenges are.

It’s about removing friction so they can work the way they were always meant to:

  • A daily creative push

  • A shared space with an active community

  • A way to experiment with different styles and ideas

You still decide how you create. Now, you just don’t have to wait to do it.

As always, happy creating.
