Dreambooth With Stable Diffusion

Stable Diffusion is without a doubt one of the most popular artificial intelligence (AI) art tools that are currently in use. It’s a product of Stability AI in conjunction with Runway and CompVis Group. Professional artists and amateurs are using this tool to generate photorealistic images using simple texts.

For Stable Diffusion to give you high-quality images, it has to be properly trained using carefully selected datasets. Although Stable Diffusion learns continuously every time you use it to generate images, you can accelerate the training process with other advanced AI image generation models like DreamBooth, which aims to offer users effective features to create their subjects in several contexts.

With DreamBooth, you can generate images that have been polished up and personalized through training. This AI image generation model is designed to simplify the process of image modification with Stable Diffusion by allowing you to train your Stable Diffusion platform on up to five images at once.

Read on to learn more about DreamBooth and how it can improve your experience with Stable Diffusion.

What Is DreamBooth?

DreamBooth is a deep learning model developed by Google researchers and colleagues at Boston University in 2022. Initially, it was developed using Imagen – a text-to-image model from Google. The good thing is that DreamBooth implementations work perfectly in other deep learning models like Stable Diffusion and the Deepfloyd AI art generator.

When you use DreamBooth with Stable Diffusion, it’ll allow you to generate high-quality images that are perfectly fine-tuned and modified. You can use up to five images of one subject for training the Stable Diffusion platform with DreamBooth. Because Stable Diffusion is a pre-trained text-to-image model, it won’t give you the specificity you need to create images of unknown subjects.

While most pre-trained diffusion models are capable of generating diverse image output types, they lack the capacity to render familiar subjects in various situations and settings. But this is possible when you implement DreamBooth with Stable Diffusion because the former uses implementations that involve fine-tuning models using small sets of images that portray specific subjects.

According to DreamBooth developers, five images are usually enough to train your diffusion models. Additionally, you can pair these images with texts that define the classes of your subjects and distinctive identifiers. You are allowed to use prior preservation loss that belongs to a specific class to help your diffusion model to create various situations of the subject depending on what your model has been trained on for the initial class.

You can modify the super-resolution elements using pairs of high-resolution and low-resolution images from the sets of your inputs. This helps you to maintain important details of your subjects. Although inpainting with Stable Diffusion will still give you the desired results, you’re likely to get better results when you fine-tune your Stable Diffusion model with DreamBooth.

How to Use DreamBooth with Stable Diffusion

As noted above, the main reason why you need to use DreamBooth with Stable Diffusion is to fine-tune the Stable Diffusion platform–the deep learning model fixes Stable Diffusion’s inability to generate sufficient images of specific subjects. This limitation makes Stable Diffusion require a lot of VRAM and it is very cost-prohibitive for amateurs and anyone who wants to use it as a hobby.

The use of DreamBooth with Stable Diffusion is considered to be a free and open-source initiative that employs the technology defined in the preliminary paper developed and circulated by Ruiz and others in 2022. Unlike Stable Diffusion and other popular diffusion models, which aren’t accessible to everyone, DreamBooth can be used by anyone.

However, some people have raised concerns regarding the chances of bad actors using DreamBooth to generate offensive and illegal images like porn and fake news. With DreamBooth, your Stable Diffusion model will overfit easily. That’s why you have to find an appropriate learning rate (LR) and follow the right training stages for your datasets.

Whether you train a higher LR for fewer stages or a lower LR for more stages, you’ll get the same results. Therefore, the main task is to find a sweet spot in your training for a specific LR so that you can generate reasonable images.

Lastly, DreamBooth helps to train Stable Diffusion’s checkpoints that are aimed at generating photorealistic images that imitate the art styles used by human fine artists. Although some people argue that this technology is likely to replace fine art as we know it, its developers argue that the diffusion model isn’t meant to replace traditional artistry but rather to improve it.
