AI Artists in the Crypto Space

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create artwork is a fairly new phenomenon that has taken the art industry by storm. Many artists, both professional and amateur, are now incorporating AI into their work. Even people who do not have any talent or expertise in artistry are generating incredible pieces of art using a simple AI art app.

Others are taking advantage of the expanding non-fungible token (NFT) market to make hundreds of thousands of dollars from their AI art pieces. The NFT trade is one of the latest generative AI art trends attracting thousands of artists from around the world. This article takes a closer look at the AI artists in the crypto space.

How Successful is AI Art in the NFT Space?

The NFT space is one of the fastest-growing and most promising sectors in the world today. CoinMarketCap recently reported that in 2021, NFT sales reached $25 billion, indicating that this sector is set to grow tremendously within the crypto space.

This tremendous growth in sales also indicates that AI generative NFTs will soon be the next big thing within the crypto space. Many art collectors who are used to purchasing physical art pieces are now busy trying to figure out how to buy generative AI art in the form of NFTs.

AI generative art is any piece of art generated using artificial intelligence tools and systems. Many software engineering companies are releasing new and sophisticated AI art generating programs designed to help even the least competent artists to create professional pieces of art that they can sell as NFTs.

These programs have led to a significant rise in the number of AI artists in the crypto space and AI NFTs being sold through NFT marketplaces every day.

For instance, the popular British auction house Christie's sold its first-ever AI art in the form of NFT in 2018 for a whopping $432,500.

This piece of art titled "Edmond de Belamy" was generated by the French art collective Obvious through AI and it was based on 15,000 sketches made between the 14th and 20th centuries. In 2021, Christie's reported $93 million in NFT sales, indicating that NFTs had a significant influence on the year.
